April 23rd, 2010, another day which will live in infamy. Governor Jan Brewer passed SB1070 with the seemingly positive name "Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act."
Behind the smoke screen to support law enforcement and making neighborhoods safe, there's a rage inside of me wanting to scream out "What the fuck?" Why don't you call it the "Bye Bye Brownies" Act or maybe Vamos Mexicans! How about Yay Racial Profiling? This Bill will make it a duty of law enforcement to verify anyone that they have reasonable suspicion to believe that are in the United States illegally and verify their citizenship/immigration status.
This is a slippery slope. People are up in arms about it , and rightfully so. Let's just hope this fire is put out quickly and publicly.
